10 Habits of Highly Successful People

Finding new ways to give yourself and edge in 2016 can seem somewhat difficult, but it can actually be as simple as changing or adding a couple of things to your daily routine. Here’s a list of ten things that highly successful people do on a daily basis.

1. Successful people make their health a priority

Ever heard the saying, “When you look good you feel good; and when you feel good, you do good?” Well this has a lot of truth to it. Exercise can be used as a time to regroup and plan your next move. Also, healthy food choices can give you more energy, allowing you to think more clearly throughout the day.

2. Successful people wake up an hour early

Research has shown that those who wake up early are more optimistic and conscientious. It may seem impossible now, but once it becomes a habit, you’ll probably never need an alarm clock again!

Keeping your brain stimulated isn’t the only reason reading is important. Reading a variety of materials may allow you to come across new ideas and even learn more about what not to do based on others mistakes.

4. Successful people declutter
Feeling like your life is one big jigsaw puzzle and having a hard time keeping track on what’s going on daily? Chances are, your belongings are probably the reason why. Successful people thrive in organized spaces free of garbage, extra materials, or anything that will distract them from their goals. (This can apply to people also).

5. Successful people go to bed early

Getting enough sleep plays more of a positive role on your life than you may think. Getting a proper amount of sleep for your body can help reduce stress, increase creativity, and aid in weight control.

6. Successful people align themselves with like-minded people

Surrounding yourself with people that share the same goals and/or values as you can help you stay motivated and focused. Not all pressure is bad, and having that desire to keep up with those around you can help you get a lot accomplished!

7. Successful people do things that others won’t
Waking up early? Reading on a consistent basis? Maintaining a healthy lifestyle? These are all examples of things that a lot of people struggle with, and therefore don’t bother to do them. The difference between successful people and everyone else is that they recognize the areas that others may lag in, and give themselves an edge by simply doing them!

8. Successful people know their core values
If you are unsure of what your core values are, start by sitting down and writing a list of five things that are most important to you in life. Categorize them and as time goes on, add to this list. Once you are familiar with your core values, it will be easier to prioritize your life and remove things that may not be important or that don’t add value to you.

9. Successful people are more open to (and act upon) feedback
We can all sometimes take feedback to heart and not see the potential value in it. The truth of the matter is, taking a moment to think about the feedback you’ve been given can encourage you to make changes to the way you do things, therefore helping you become a more successful individual.

10. Successful people have an “off” switch
Last but not least, successful people know when to relax! It is perfectly fine to be career driven and motivated to reach your goals, but taking a break can be very beneficial too. Sometimes taking a break can mean not checking your email and spending time with people you enjoy. Not only will you have a lot of fun, the break may help you return to your work with a fresh mind and even better ideas.
