RiverStreet Networks and Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation have joined forces with Caswell and Person County to bring faster internet to your area!

A regional partnership powered by Piedmont EMC, Caswell County Government, Person County Government, and RiverStreet Networks has been established to improve broadband in the region.

Significant first steps have already been put into place to create a wireless broadband network in four regions of Person County. This partnership has contribution funding from Person County Government, the North Carolina Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) Grant program, and RiverStreet Networks. To find out if service is available at your location, key in your address below.

 Over the next 24 months, funding from the NC GREAT Grant program and RiverStreet Networks will allow wireless broadband service to be extended into portions of Caswell County.  The extended service area is expected to reach many of the crucial areas that are unserved.  If you live in Caswell County, please indicate your interest by keying your address below.  This will allow us to contact you when the service is ready for use.

Caswell-County

Caswell County, NC

Caswell County offers beautiful landscapes with a focus on rural life amenities, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and agriculture while also offering an easy commute to the Research Triangle Park (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill,)and the Piedmont Triad (Greensboro, Burlington, Winston-Salem, High Point).  Reidsville, Roxboro, and Danville, VA are neighboring communities with similar amenities and just a short commute.

Caswell County was named for Richard Caswell, Governor of North Carolina from 1776 to 1780. Leasburg was the first county seat. In 1792, roughly the eastern half of Caswell County became Person County. After the division, the seat of Caswell County’s government was moved to a more central location. The community hosting the new county seat first was called Caswell Court House. Later, the name was changed to Yanceyville.

Caswell County produced many political leaders, including Bartlett Yancey, Jr.Archibald Debow MurpheyRomulus Mitchell SaundersBedford BrownCalvin GravesJohn H. Kerr, and Jacob Thompson. At one time it was stated that all successful North Carolina legislation had to make its way through the Caswell County legislators.

Person County, NC

Person County offers a strategic location for business and industry, being within an hour’s drive of North Carolina’s two major economic centers, the Research Triangle Park (Durham, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh) and the Piedmont Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point), and a two-hour drive of Richmond, Virginia.

The county was named for General Thomas Person, a Revolutionary War Patriot, who made significant contributions to Person County and surrounding areas. He was a trustee of the University of North Carolina, donating large sums of money to the institution and being recognized by the construction of Person Hall.
