Fiber-optic internet is a broadband technology that transmits data as pulses of light through ultra-thin strands of glass or plastic fiber. Unlike traditional cable or DSL connections, which send signals over outdated copper wires, fiber carries vast amounts of data over long distances at the speed of light. This allows for symmetrical speeds, meaning upload speeds are just as fast as download speeds, plus low latency and high resistance to electrical interference or weather degradation. 

A good home internet connection starts with a symmetrical download and upload speed of 100 Mbps, ideal for households with users connected on multiple devices at the same time. This allows you to surf the web, stream your favorite tv shows, game and video conferencing. The more speed you have, the faster your connection. RiverStreet has fiber internet plans from 100 Mbps to 1000 Mbps (1 Gig). 

A good download speed for an average household is 100 Mbps or higher. A good upload speed is 10 to 20 Mbps or higher. What makes it “good” depends on household size and online activities. Download speed determines how fast the content reaches your device (streaming and loading websites), while upload is how fast you send data out (video calling, backing up files, livestreaming).

  • 1 Gig ($110/mo): The top of the line plan built for the busiest households, and you will receive an Advanced Managed Wi-Fi router at no additional cost with unlimited data.
  • 500 Mbps ($85/mo): A plan that handles work and entertainment across multiple devices. An advanced Managed Wi-Fi router is also included at no additional cost with unlimited data.

RiverStreet provides the necessary network equipment to get your service up and running. You can also use or rent a compatible Wi-Fi router through us, or connect your own router if preferred.

No, RiverStreet internet plans come with unlimited data so you can stream, game, and browse without worrying about data overages or sudden price jumps on your bill.

First, try restarting your router by unplugging the power cord for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. If your connection does not restore after a few minutes, check for local service outages or contact Technical Support at 844-238-0131 for assistance.

You can also submit a service ticket by logging into your Account Login. Our service team reviews reports Sunday through Saturday, 6 a.m.– 8 p.m. Submissions outside of those hours are reviewed the following morning.
