RiverStreet is still fully committed to ensuring the completion of all of the projects in each of the counties that we have been contracted with in Virginia.

Following the potential expansion of fundable locations within the national BEAD grant program, we were awarded a significantly larger service area in and around our existing grant program footprint which nearly doubled the overall customer locations to be built to. This growth required a full redesign and refinancing of our plans to meet several updated federal requirements.  We are now in the final stages of the BEAD award approval process, the contract stage.

While we have faced unforeseen delays in the BEAD award process since March 2025, we remain fully committed to the project’s success. These external grant execution delays have shifted our construction start dates, but we are using this time to refine our plans and resources. It is important to note that because these new build areas overlap with our existing infrastructure, legal and financing protocols require finalized contracts before we can break ground. We are prepared to move forward the moment the administrative process and subsequent funding are secured.

In close partnership with DHCD and WPPDC, we are navigating these programmatic shifts with a shared commitment to launching as soon as BEAD approvals are secured. Our priority is maintaining transparent communication and proactive coordination to ensure these projects remain on track for the communities we serve. We are fully dedicated to expanding reliable, high-speed internet across Virginia, and our team is prepared to mobilize the moment final approvals are granted to deliver the long-term infrastructure our neighbors deserve.
