Telephone Consumer Protection Act, also known as TCPA, is a federal law enacted in 1991 to protect consumers from unwanted telemarketing calls, robocalls, and text messages. It restricts the use of automatic dialing systems, artificial or prerecorded voice messages, and SMS messages, while requiring prior consent from consumers for many types of calls.
Customer agrees that RiverStreet may place voice calls or send text messages, including using an automatic telephone dialing system (“autodialer”) or an artificial prerecordered voice, (including SMS and MMS messages), to Customer at the telephone number associated with Customer’s account and any other telephone number Customer provides for that purpose, including without limitation messages concerning outage notifications, payment reminders, appointment reminders, or other information regarding the service(s) and equipment. Customer represents that any such number it provides is not for a residential telephone line. Message and data rates may apply. By providing RiverStreet with a mobile phone number associated with this account Customer represents that it is the subscriber for or authorized user of such mobile telephone number or otherwise authorized to consent to the receipt of calls and text messages at that number and that it is authorized to approve any related charges for calls, messaging, and data levied by the associated wireless carrier. While Customer consents to receive such messages, the foregoing shall not be interpreted to suggest or imply that any or all of RiverStreet’s calls or mobile messages are sent using an autodialer.
If customer wishes to withdraw consent to receive such messages from RiverStreet, Customer may reply “STOP”, “QUIT”, “END”, “UNSUBSCRIBE”, “REVOKE”, “OPT OUT” OR “CANCEL” in order to opt out. While using the text commands set forth above is the preferred method to revoke consent and opt-out. Customer may also contact RiverStreet customer service at 844-238-0131 or email rsinfo@rsnet.org or opt out by visiting myriverstreet.net. RiverStreet will process the Customer’s opt-out request within 10 business days and the Customer agrees that revocation of its consent is not effective until the request has been processed.
If at any time Customer intends to stop using its previously designated mobile telephone number to receive such messages including by canceling the associated mobile service plan or selling or transferring the phone number to another party. Customer agree that it will complete the opt out process set forth above prior to ending its use of the mobile telephone number. Customer understands and agrees that it’s agreement to do so is a material part of this Agreement.
